Summertime in Ohio is pretty awesome. This year the boys and I flew 15 hours there and back to get to spend about a month in Ohio with my family. We flew Taipei to Toronto, where we met my parents, and then drove 5ish hours to Cleveland. On the way there, the flight was easier than the drive. On the way back, the opposite was true -they gave me a very hard time on the flight back. Thankfully, we are back and well recovered from our jet-lag. Luke wasn’t able to come with us this time so we really missed him but the time really flew by.
We sure had a great month hanging out with everyone, celebrating Natalie’s 30th Birthday and Robby’s 2nd. My parents hosted a big, crazy family reunion and I got to see my lovely cousin, Jessica, and meet her husband and darling baby. We caught up with old friends, visited all the local playgrounds, ate a lot of ice cream, and went to the best ever Paw Patrol party (Robby’s Bday) complete with swimming after. Aunt Natalie was a huge help – babysitting the boys so I could go for a run or out for dinner with my parents. I also completed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Half Marathon which was a blast. On the way back through to Toronto we stopped at Niagara Falls with the boys and then said a very sad goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa. Here’s a big photo dump of our trip. Enjoy!
At the start of August Toby turned 22 Months old.
It was a big month for Toby as he became totally potty trained (even through the night).
And he moved into Jude’s room.
We had a few rough days of nap times at the start – mostly because they were excited but after while, they both adjusted and now we can’t imagine life with them in seperate rooms. It’s been a really nice.
Toby and I spent most of July trying to keep cool while Jude was at school in the morning.
We went to the usual playcenters.
And in between, ran errands.
Going anywhere was a lot harder this month with Toby. He wants to walk everywhere which is great except for when he no longer wants to walk and instead wants to be carried. Which results in this:
It’s too hot and he is too heavy. Thankfully on most of these occasions I brought the stroller along and so would have to wrestle or bribe him into it. I really hope this phase doesn’t last long.
Toby, you are challenge but a sweet one!
Way back in July Jude turned 39 Months Old.
After his ankle recovered he was right back into it.
He had a fun-filled month of school as during the summer they have a special program filled with fun outings, swimming, music and cooking classes.
He would come home exhausted!
Jude had one modelling gig and it was probably the best ever. The clothes were easy to put on, the crew were relaxed and the only thing they asked was for him to be relaxed and have fun. Jude decided he wanted to be a super hero and so spent the shoot pretending to fight bad guys.
Toby wasn’t with us so I decided to take Jude out for a dinner date after.
It was at this McDonalds where he totally surprised me by taking himself to the bathroom all by himself. I watched him go into the handicap bathroom, lock the door and then after a minute come out with hands washed and all. I didn’t know he was capable of this big boy stuff!
It’s also been cool to see him totally engrossed in activities – like reading or doing puzzles. He can really focus for so long now. And Richard Scarry books are the best for this.
Your growing up so fast little man!
