Toby: 19 Months Old

Here’s Toby at 19 months:

IMG_4281He’s fast as lightning and a big talker. Toby has an opinion about everything!

IMG_4371It was a month of adjusting to Jude not being around in the mornings anymore.

IMG_4262The first day we dropped Jude off at school was the hardest. Toby was crying ‘me too school’ over and over. I took him to a playground to distract him but it was empty so he ended up whining more for Jude and Dad.

IMG_4618It’s gotten easier over the weeks as I keep Toby busy playing with friends or taking him for bike rides.

IMG_4470Toby is usually pretty good in public. He is super good at following directions so it’s easy for us to go out for coffee or shopping.

IMG_4816He’s not big on sitting in the stroller these days but will hold onto the stroller as we walk around.

IMG_4820And Toby certainly has come to enjoy his one-on-one time with me – lots of cuddles, singing and dancing. It’s nice to tailor games to his level – rather than Jude’s (as we usually do). I get Toby to help me with all the chores around the house. It’s made me remember how easy it is with just one kid.  Even when Toby throws big tantrums and makes a fuss it’s no biggie as its only one kid acting out. Two kids acting out is a lot harder to handle.

IMG_4428Our afternoons are nice as the boys have missed each other and really want to play together. We go on scooter rides to 7-11 for a snack,

IMG_4356Or bike rides around town to interesting places.

IMG_4799

At school they really emphasis older kids helping out the younger ones so it’s nice to see Jude take the lead more with helping Toby out.

IMG_4810When they are getting along nicely, it really is the best.

IMG_4806

IMG_4401Toby has been speaking in mini sentences. He can say things like ‘give me ball’, or ‘daddy do it’. He will non-stop ask questions like, ‘yogurt me, yeah?’ His ‘yeah’ is the cutest. He turns on his sweetest voice when he is asking for something. He has even started telling us when his diaper is dirty and will go lay down on the ground waiting to be changed. I still think he is a little while away from potty training but it’s good to see that he knows whats going on down there and communicate it to us.

IMG_4455Toby loves to sing songs. He will walk around humming or singing something to himself all day long. In the morning when he wakes up we can hear him singing in his crib. It’s very sweet.

IMG_4529Toby loves being with his friends but hates sharing. If a kids tries to take his ball at the playground, he will scoop it up and say, ‘no, mine’ and then start to roar at them until they run away. It’s hilarious to watch.

IMG_4489It’s still so crazy for me to think that not long ago these same kids were playing together while I was breastfeeding a very small newborn Toby on the bench.

IMG_4482

IMG_4646It’s so much fun watching these two grow up.

IMG_4813We love you to bits and pieces, Toby.

Jude: 3 Years Old

How can it be that this little peanut is now 3 years old?IMG_5369Jude has been such an incredible son. We sometimes can’t believe he is ours.

IMG_4276

He has such a fun-loving, outgoing personality. He wants to be involved in everything. He knows how to make people smile and laugh like I’ve never seen before. Everyone loves Jude as he is just so lovable. He loves to run, pretend to be a superhero and help me cook. His imagination is growing by the day and now he can tell us stories.

IMG_4406Jude has been an amazing big brother to Toby. He’s already taught Toby so much and it’s so awesome to see all the patience and love he has for him.

IMG_4682Jude has been so lucky to have best buddy Kate in his life. This past year these two have spent pretty much everyday together.

IMG_4445They’ve had quite the impact on one another and it certainly feels like Jude will lose a sister when she moves away at the end of June.

IMG_4348

IMG_4349

IMG_4352Jude started at 1/2 day Montessori preschool when he turned 3.

IMG_4612It’s been hard for Toby but the best thing ever for Jude. He LOVES it.

IMG_4502He comes home most days with a painting. He is always so proud to show us what he’s done.

IMG_4692I took the boys out for donuts after Jude’s first day.

IMG_4621He has an amazing teacher and the Montessori model seems to really fit Jude’s personality. The school is Chinese-speaking which will be the biggest challenge but he’s already starting to say a few phrases and every asked for books in Chinese.

After school I bring the boys home and feed them lunch and quickly get them down for nap. It’s a new schedule to adjust to but so far it’s been working out. The afternoons we spend at the playground with friends- riding scooters and kicking balls.

IMG_4340For Jude’s actual birthday (on the 28th) we kicked it off with McDonald’s pancakes.

IMG_4633And ended the day with a rocketship cake.

The weekend after his bday we had a big party with all his friends (co-hosted with his friend Amanda). I had to make yet another rocket ship cake plus cupcakes. It was raining so we skipped the park and had it in our basement. Everyone had a great time. Here are some of the photos.

Happy Birthday Dear Jude! We love you to the moon and back (and sun and back, and stars and back, and mars and back…).

Bali Holiday 2016

We spent just shy of 2 weeks in beautiful Bali with Grandma and Grandpa. Aunt Dominica also stopped by for 3 nights on her way to the UK. It was a big bonus to get to see her. She brought the boys these awesome dinosaurs which they just loved. In Bali, we pretty much spent all our time swimming, eating, getting massages and relaxing at our villa. Bali is a beautiful, lush island full of an incredible number of temples. We stayed in the beachside town, Sanur. It had a really cool beachfront area with a walkway and tons of little restaurants. We took one day trip to Ubud, where we got to experience the amazing (and at times scary) Monkey Temple and beautiful rice paddies. The boys loved getting to spend all this time with Grandma and Grandpa. It quickly became the routine for the boys to wake up and wander over to Grandpa and Grandma’s room for morning cartoons. Of course, as always, it was hard to say goodbye –  both to Bali and to the Grandparents (and Aunt Minnie earlier in the week!). Here are some of the photos from out trip.
