Jude: 23 Months Old

At the end of March, Jude turned 23 months old. Jude got to spend most of the month in Hawaii, where we met my family for a holiday. So he had pretty awesome month.

IMG_4026He was actually very good on the flight over to Hawaii. He’s finally at the age where he is happy to watch non-stop TV instead of running up and down the aisles. He eventually passed out around 2:30am Taipei time and got a little bit of sleep.

IMG_3801Nonetheless, when we arrived in Hawaii he was totally out of it. He was acting like a wild animal. Getting him into his crib and getting him to sleep proved to be the best thing.

IMG_3919For our first full day in Maui, he was still super sleepy.

IMG_3813Grandma and Grandpa had a bag full of car-related presents for him so he was back to himself in no time.

IMG_4189The unfortunate thing was that a few days after we arrived, he got a bad cough and was later diagnosed with croup.

IMG_3958Medication and rest sorted him out in no time.

IMG_3908Once recovered, he was back to his normal, talkative toddler-self. He certainly impressed Grandma and Grandpa with all the words he knows.

IMG_4016Jude loved the kiddie area in the swimming pool but he is no longer the daredevil he used to be as he was afraid of the big pool. It’s very comforting as a Mother to see your son stop at the edge of the pool and wait for your hand before proceeding!

IMG_4199Jude was awesome with Toby this month, he has been patient and helpful. I think he finally gets the whole brother thing.

IMG_3921Jude loved going outside, he would ask on repeat ‘outside?’ until someone took him out there. Usually Grandpa did!

IMG_4106He sure loves Grandma and Grandpa. But something funny that he especially loves about Grandma is her toes! He would ask over and over to see her toes. It was odd and cute all at the same time. Her toes are nicely painted, so I think he enjoys the color and also playing ‘This little piggy’ on them!

IMG_3846Jude was really well behaved in most situations. There were of course moments when he was wild toddler but he didn’t act out that often. I think having so many adults to give him attention certainly helped.

IMG_4171He impressed everyone with how much he loves cars and watching iPad. he could do either for hours! We managed to tear him away from both sometimes and get him to do other activities like baking cupcakes.

IMG_4256Or going to the pool,

IMG_4331And the beach.

IMG_4377He loooves the beach. Digging holes, chasing waves,

IMG_4399Playing cars,

IMG_4141Burying Grandma’s toes,

IMG_4164Or just hanging out.

IMG_4365He could stay there all day.

IMG_4259I would love to follow Jude around with a video camera all day just to capture all the cute/funny things he does and says.

IMG_4048We crack up when he asks for something, like watching the iPad, and if we say ‘yes’ he will say ‘OKAY!’ as if it was us asking the question. His dancing and singing is also a hoot.

IMG_4247Jude is also really into his friends at this age. He would often ask for them on vacation. He will say their name as to ask if we could go see them. On the playground at home he has started calling everyone ‘friend’. Such the charmer.

Toby and Jude got along just fine in Hawaii. There was the odd incident where Jude got a little rough with Toby but nothing too bad. We saw more hugs and attempts at interactive play.

IMG_4307The flight back was rough. Jude was wired and had a really hard time shutting off and falling asleep. By the time we reached Taipei at 6am, he was exhausted. I laid down with both boys on our bed and we watched TV. After a few episodes of Peppa Pig, Jude was like this:

IMG_4461He had such an awesome month, it was hard to turn off vacation mode once we were home.

IMG_4474Jude is certainly a little beach bum!
